Haa Alifu Atoll is located on the northernmost tip of the atoll chain of Maldives. And in terms of population and area, it is the third largest administrative section of Maldives. Also known as North Thiladhunmathi, this division includes Ihavandhippolhu atoll and northern portion of Thiladhunmathi, divided in 1958. Island of Dhidhdhoo is the capital of Haa Alifu atoll where itself secretariat council of this division situates. As a correspondent of two natural geographical atolls, designated stretch of Haa Alifu atoll consists of 43 island of which 14 are inhabited and the rest go on uninhabited. With the presence of an ancient Sufi shrine, the uninhabited island, Matheerah, is revered by people. The presence of rich coral reefs and picnic friendly island made way for tourism in here.
