Maldives takes on another remarkable campaign initiative, titled as “Vaccine Tourism”, that shall offer Covid-19 vaccine to tourists upon arrival. This all-new “3V campaign” shall not only boost country’s tourism sector, but also reduce the hassle of no-Covid certificates needed to enter the country.
The tourism minister of the Maldives, Abdulla Mausoom, was publicizing the concept of a “3V” that can mean ‘Visit’, ‘Vaccinate’, ‘Vacation’, in an interview with CNBC.
“The main idea of tourism being open is to provide reasonably safe tourism with minimum inconvenience. So, once the country gets vaccinated, then we will move on to ‘3V’ tourism,” Mausoom added. Thus Maldives shall be becoming the first tourist destination in the world to vaccinate visitors as well.
This new offer from the tourism sector of the country is another incentive to the tourists to the Maldives in addition to enormous price discounts various private island resorts already set up. Although all economics fields around the world pushing forward with relaxations and incentives, the way how Maldives approaches it really deserves a big round of applause.
In a previous campaign, titled as “I am Vaccinated”, the tourism sector of the Maldives had taken an appreciable initiative to vaccinate all frontline staff working in the field of hospitality. Interestingly more than half of the population of the country has already taken at least one dose of the vaccine and nearly 5% have been fully vaccinated so far. Things are quite easy for the Maldives; credits may go to its lower population or the government vigorous interferences. Anyways Maldives is one of the first countries to open before the world after the pandemic.
At present, Maldives requires from international visitors a negative PCR test taken less than three days before arrival, or they should be fully vaccinated. This new Maldives vacation plan that comprises of vaccine incentive makes it a bit easier to enter the country.
With all these extra benefits and relaxations, the tourism wing of the Maldives is expecting set a sum of 1.5 million tourist arrivals for 2021. About 350,000 arrivals have already been counted as of April. It needs a special mentioning that the Maldives was able to welcome 550,000 tourists in 2020 when the Covid pandemic was at its peak.
Although it is not confirmed when this “Vaccine Tourism” shall be put in effect, it is possible to start after all citizens of the country received at least first short; probably way ahead of half of the global countries.
While the 2021 as well is getting under the spell of the pandemic, it does not seem imperative to be submissive any longer. We need to get back to what we used to with proper precautions at the same time. For that matter, such brilliant initiatives Maldives launches are really exemplary. Ever since the outset of the pandemic, the tourism wing of the country has implemented a series of campaigns and initiatives to ward off the pandemic. It has to be perceived in high esteem that this country is well-equipped to vaccinate even outsiders when the rest of world is still struggling to vaccinate its own citizens.
If you ever plan to pay a visit to the Maldives, there is no better time to come than this. Now the route is clear and the ground is friendly. Regardless of high luxury, all private island resorts in the Maldives are dolling out highly beneficial tour packages with extra amenities and discounts.
