The Maldives witnesses more than 500,000 travelers to its archipelago by June, 2021; which certainly is a wonderful achievement amidst the challenging period of uncertainty that lingers world over due to Covid.

None other than the Ministry of Tourism shared this official announcement via a tweet on June 26th, Saturday. He never forgot to appreciate the real forefront Covid-fighters and volunteers who made possible this milestone.

No matter what happened in the world recently in the form of a pandemic, Maldives never failed to win the global trotters who loved the unadulterated nature beauty.

After all how people can set aside their relentless obsession towards Maldives that allures anyone with its white sandy beaches and sparkling lagoon water.

The stagnation and confusion in the field of travel and tourism has never affected Maldives even in a considerable proportion. The number of travelers Maldives has welcome so far in 2021 clearly shows that the country is way ahead of other tourist destinations considering their previous statistics.

Much credit goes to country's far-sighted regulations that contained the pandemic in Maldives in a good manner. Since a tourist destination, Maldives had to go to great lengths to ward off pandemic; and certainly it paid off.

Statistics show Russia on the top of the list with 120,514 tourist arrivals as of June 23 with India coming second with 89,599 arrivals and Germany claiming third with 27,151 tourist arrivals. Countries such as Ukraine, USA, Kazakhstan, United Kingdom, Romania, France and Czech Republic have topped the list of first ten respectively.

At present, the country is open before all countries outside of South Asia. Tourists no longer need quarantine or on-arrival test to enter the Maldives; but they just need to fill up an health declaration form online within 24 prior to their arrival and produce a negative PCR test done within 96 hours prior to arrival.

The just-passed-by July 15th marked one year of Maldives border-reopening after the lock-down. Since then not only did Maldives welcome more than half million tourists but also made sure that over 72% of the tourist industry of the nation have been fully vaccinated.

Ever since the report of first Covid case in the country and its re-opening in July previous year, Maldives have been continuously conducting various sorts of campaigns and programs that ensured proper vaccination and measures against pandemic. For the same reason, Maldives ever since remained as 'safe-destination' for holiday lovers.

With nearly 100% of resort employees having received the first shot of the vaccine and 70% of them fully vaccinated as of late June 2021, Maldives is looking towards being the first-fully vaccinated tourism sector around the world itself.

Now things are beginning to take a turn for the better with remarkable decline in Covid-19 cases world over and relaxation on international travel restrictions, Maldives is expecting a big hike in the number of tourist arrivals by the end of 2021.
