Only the year changes, not the winner! The Maldives brings it home the "World's Leading Destination" award for the third consecutive year at the World Travel Awards 2022, one of the most prestigious honoring summits in the world.

Snatching the award in 2020, the Maldives retained it in 2021 and secured it now for a third time in a row in 2022, which is a true reflection of how the Maldives remains in a class of its own in terms of international hospitality and tourism.

The award turns out all the more worthwhile since the country is still enjoying the golden jubilee of its beach island tourism, which is a consistent adherence to a set of principles that always preferred international tourists and nature-chic hospitality.

WTA (World Travel Awards) is one of the prestigious ceremonies where the best properties, companies, and countries in the secotrs of hospitality and travel from all around the world are duly recognized and introduced before the world. The final gala of the 29th World Travel Awards that took place in Muscat on November 11 is the heated culmination of regional award shows of WTA.

The road to coronation has never been that easy for the Maldives since it had to take on 18 other world's popular tourist destinations including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Dubai, Greece, India, Indonesia, Jamaica, Kenya, Mexico, New Zealand, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, United States, and Vietnam. But the Maldives' unique tourism ideas helped it bag the title for the third time in a row.

The reality that the Maldives managed to top the list of best travel destinations around the world in the years 2020 and 2021, the time Covid-19 hit the globe and left the entire tourist arena hanging, lends credence to the superiority of the Maldives' beach island tourism.

On top of that, at WTA final gala ceremony, the Maldives has also been awarded MMPRC winning World’s Leading Tourism Board and Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) winning World’s Leading Seaplane Operator titles. In short, it was domination from the side of the Maldives at WTA 2022.

Travel Connection Maldives, one of the best contributors to the Maldives tourism industry, is happy that how its relentless effort to present the country before the world at international fairs pays off in the form of the country's international sweeping victory, which is a true recognition of the country's tourism wing, hotel properties, and travel groups such as Travel Connection Maldives.
