At a grand award ceremony held by Travel and Leisure at Dante Seaport, New York City, USA, on 20th July 2022, Thilmeeza Hussein, Maldives Ambassador to the United States of America, received the award, “Best Island Destination in Asia, on behalf of the whole Maldives. When a joint enterprise of various hospitality groups from different corners of the world and the Maldives itself brings this appreciation home, this secluded archipelagic country has to tell a story of adaptation, cooperation, and friendship.
Commenting on this proud moment of being selected as the best island destination in the world, Thoyyib Mohammed, the Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC / Visit Maldives), rightly complimented all state agencies, local and international partners, hospitality groups, investors, and the country itself on making this triumph possible.

The work to promote the destination and to welcome many visitors to the country needs continuous and collective effort.
