Tourism is getting as unique as it gets in the Maldives when this island nation tries its hand at homestay tourism as well on Dhiggaru Island that is well known for exemplary hospitality from its locals.

As a mater of fact, tourism only flourishes where it could go diverse. The global standards and definitions for hospitality is under constant change as ever. Tourism is not always necessarily about luxury and winding down. What only matters is that if it amuses you and entertains you.

Maldives homestay tourism is a collective experience of tropical beach getaway and an interesting study of rustic life and culture that you would never know of while living in an urban circle.

Local Maldivian life is the epitome of pure village life. The local people are unsophisticated and genuine. They follow tradition in all walks of life which will bring you back memories from childhood or past generation. At the same time their knacks for each thing will greatly amuse you.

The locals will whole-heartedly invite you over to stunning local feast and show you around. They will tell you local myths and their life with the ocean.

You will live with them, learn with them, and enjoy the bliss of being a rustic, simple man who never knows the worries of the busy world. The ocean with gentle waves shall lie before you as an unconsumed source of energy and positivity.

It does not mean homestay on Dhiggaru island is all about spending time with locals. Locals island that promote homestay tourism including Dhiggaru Island shall feature various recreational hubs like water sports and dive centers and nice eateries with professional and authentic expertise accredited with.

Speaking of Dhiggaru Island which is situated in North of the Maldives, it is, as Head of Tourism Diversification and Localization Department, Ali Razzan assures, home to experts in all fields of resort operations. Dhiggaru Council has designated 50 rooms for local tourism with an intention of increasing the number of rooms to 200. Island shall have all forms of support for guests like security, guest relations and frontline help.

'The surprise we received when we went to Dhiggaru is, we received a resort-standard welcome when we arrived to the island. They didn’t know we were expecting it. But given their background in the tourism industry, they understood that that was how it should be,' he appreciated them.

The first homestay guests on the island were an American couple, a Sudanese couple, and Catherine Haswell, the UN resident coordinator for the Maldives. The words from Julie Mack and Kyle Hand, the couple from America, really vouch for the exceptional quality of this new form tourism in the country.

'We will always remember the hospitality we received from Dhiggaru this holiday. Thank you very much,' Julie said while acknowledging their memorable experience on the island and thanking their host family at Moorithi homestay and the entire people of Dhiggaru for making their stay worthwhile.
